Attention
Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the impact it has brought such as travel restrictions and policy recommendations for lessening its effects, the conference committee has agreed that it would be difficult to proceed with the event in the traditional face-to-face meeting in Japan. Therefore, it has been decided to organize the GL2020 as an online event during the same planned period. We deeply apologize to all the participants who have been looking forward to the event in Kyoto but we would highly appreciate your understanding. Sufficient technology support will be provided to make the online conference environment a pleasant experience for all participants.
1. About the conference dates
There is no change in the conference dates (7th ~ 9th of December 2020). However, the Social Tour and Welcome Reception on the 6th of December, and the Technical Tour on the 9th of December are canceled. We are planning to hold the 3-day event from 13:00 to 18:00 Japan Standard Time. Web Social Gathering is planned on the 8th of December. Kindly wait for the final announcement of the program.
2. Registration fee for all of the participants including students and conditions for publication
The registration fee is as follows:
・ Until 15th of October: 30,000 JPY (Early bird)
・ After 15th of October: 50,000 JPY (Standard)
In addition, due to the reduction in the registration fee and the cost of canceling the venue, etc., in order to be published in the conference proceedings, at least one registration fee is required by one of the authors for each submitted conference paper. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation regarding this matter.
3. Extension of the submission deadline
Owing to the drastic change in the conference procedures, the deadline for the full paper submission is extended until the 31st of July. In this way, we hope that those who have not yet submitted their papers will be able to finally submit their contributions.
4. Young Researchers Award
Due to the online conference environment, we expect that it would be difficult to conduct a fair evaluation of the online presentations. Therefore, we deeply apologize for the cancelation of this award.
Welcome
The 14th IIR-Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants - GL2020- will be held from December 6th to December 9th, 2020, at the Kyoto International Conference center and Doshisha University (Kambai-kan and Ryoshin-kan), Kyoto, Japan.
Experts, researchers, engineers, and politicians are invited to present their contribution and join the discussion on the latest progress in the area of natural refrigerants. The conference welcomes research subjects covering fundamental studies (such as thermodynamic properties or heat and mass transfer), system developments (such as heat pumps, chillers refrigerators), and their applications.
The venue of this conference, the Kyoto International Conference Center, hosted the Conference of Parties III (COP3) in 1997, where the Kyoto Protocol to counter global warming was adopted. As the Kyoto Protocol represents the first major step of the international community to prevent global warming, Kyoto is thus considered to be the birthplace of this universal effort against global warming. We Japanese are proud that the GL2020 can be held in this historical place.
Kyoto is the center of the traditional Japanese culture and Buddhism, as well as home of the production of fine textiles and other Japanese products. Several of the historical temples and gardens of Kyoto were collectively added as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994.
In this season, the beauty of Kyoto reaches its highest; temples, gardens and streets are naturally decorated by the colors of the autumn foliage that will surely delight you.
We believe that all the participants will not only take part in fruitful discussions but also enjoy their stay in Kyoto.
